Serendipity.
New-York, 2024. I don’t know if we need to see a symbol here, whereas it’s a very very mad world… You may also imagine a fight for poetry - or something like that.
No Photoshop, of course not, no IA. Not my style ;-) … Just an observation, with a camera.
Privilege to see my lith-printed photograph from 1998, “Mystères”, used for the official poster of the exhibition by Musée Réattu in Arles, France. Until October 1st 2023.
NEW STEP : COLLAGES
I had these collages in my body and soul for almost 10 years. I finally preserved some precious time to work hard on materializing them. The confinement in 2020, with a strange irony, just extended what has been a voluntary isolation period from October 2019 to early March 2020. Overall, I spent 99% of my time on my collages for 9 months. Necessary time for a delivery, you may say: exactly.
This is the very first collage I presented to an audience for the AVALANZ project on February 29th 2020.
Mixed media, including a cyanotype (2000, with Michele Hicks) and a photograph (2017, with Adam Russell-Jones) - size 92x65cm
Souvenir from my office.
Watercolor 1994 & cyanotype - Carmen Kaas at McQueen - 1997.
Now creating in my studio.
One day at a time.
10 years later : beautiful silver print by Hervé Caté. Leica photography.
APRIL 2019: Angel bowing to Teodor Currentzis, and vice-versa, just after the Requiem by Verdi in Vienna.

I love the fact that the negative was damaged, which gives these white marks that participate in the composition of the image. I know that Lee McQueen would have loved that, that magic trace, touching, tangible.
I chose this image on purpose, whereas there was another one which was impeccable.
I do believe in the strength of accidents. Raw Beauty.

Sometimes people tell me that I am a surrealist, in many ways. This makes me very happy, even if sometimes I dont know why they say that. And sometimes, I understand.
As all the images here, this was done in a few seconds, in a frantic atmosphere the day of the McQueen performance.
I took this photo more than 25 years ago, so I can step back enough to say that only Lee McQueen pushed me in areas that I ignored before I met him. I feel an immense gratitude. He pushed me towards the Truth, the Beauty, and that feeling that nothing is impossible. I became fully who I am because there was so much trust.
The human factor.
